Default ls2 block vs ls6 block

I know im probably going to get **** for posting this, but i have had trouble finding any definite answers. I have always been under the impression that the ls2 is a better starting point (bare block vs bare block) than an ls6, due to the larger displacement, but upon browsing through various sites, i found the ls6 block tends to sell for more than the ls2 block.. So basically my question is.. why is this?? and is the ls6 a better block than the ls2 for some reason?

on that note, i heard you cannot run the f-body OEM knock sensor on the ls2 and have to tap the side?
is this true

think ls2s have knock sensor location on the sides instead of valley.
and cam sensor relocated to the front cover.

i have a new ls6 block, but would trade it for a ls2 block

Ls2 has some differences that I believe are better for performance. The larger bore is obvious cause it helps heads breath better and more displacement. I like the siamesed bores also which makes the block stronger and helps with cylinder distortion.

I'm reading Motorbooks Workshop's book on LS engines right now so I can answer from that:

- Gen IV LS2 vs Gen III LS6
- LS2 uses a 4.000" bore, max 4.030" vs. LS6 3.898", max 3.910"
- LS2 camshaft sensor reluctor moved to the upper timing gear so it uses a different front timing cover and timing gear. Camshaft and knock sensor harness wiring extensions are available.
- LS2 knock sensors are on the external sides of the block vs. LS6 sensors under the intake manifold. Sensors aren't interchangeable.
- LS2 has provisions for DoD. LS2 lifter trays are required.

Thank you very much!Which kinda helps along with my question.. The ls2 seems like its def. a better block.. so why would it be cheaper than an ls6 block.....

Summit and Pace both have the LS2 priced slightly higher. Might just be a supply/demand issue depending on the vendor you look at.

because the ls6 block is getting alot harder to find these days...which is driving the price up on any that are still left out there= Supply and demand. last year sdpp was closing out there ls6 longblocks for 3200.00. Now I see them back up around 5k if you can find one.
