Default Ford Vs Chevy

Ok this has been going on for many years. Chevy Vs Ford. So why do people put chevy engines in fords? Probably a stupid question but I need an answer. If ford guys claim that they can make same or better HP with smaller cubes. I hve my ideas but I want to see what my fellow ls1techers think. Not trying to start a ford VS chevy rival. Just want to see what's up with peoples thoughts. Because I've seen chevy's with ford engines aswell. Is there really no replacement for displacement? I really don't think I'll ever go ford but still need to hear from people and try to convince me to be a ford guy

basically.... Is there anything that would make us GM guys go Ford?

Since my friend is trying to say Ford is the best

1. 5.0 are lighter and it's cheaper to build a sbc
2. Fords car FLY with a smaller cubic inch but they are too cheap to spend the $$$$
3. Most ford owners in the bay area are ditching their cars and buying ls1's that's why ls1 have horrible reputation in the bay now.

Because a fox body is lighter and parts are so much cheaper than a f-body. Plus IMO a fox body chassis is a better for racing.

If I had the cash and found a good fox, I'd prefer to put the LS-based motor in it.

The firing pattern in a ford is different. I think fords sound cooler.

The only thing I like is the sound. The 2011 GT's look ok. Not something I would trade my Fbody for.

I've had both a ss and mach 1 loved the top end and torque from the ss but the mach 1 had a quick launch and sounds way cooler and felt a lot lighter imo..

And lsx on fords r bad *** but id honestly would love to see a third gen with a 4.6 or 5.4 modular wippled lol would be bad ***. And real quick..

I think it's preference, I would buy another tbird turbo coupe or an SVO mustang. Heck I would take a 2011 GT over a 2011 SS, I was really disappointed when GM introduced the new Camaro.

I am from the mind set that if it is well engineered and fast, then it doesn't matter who makes it. I love Camaros so I guess I would be mostly a GM person but Ford makes some badass cars and trucks (I.E the Raptor).

People swap Chevy engines because they build there engines simpler with less parts and they put them in everything. So when it comes time to build a Chevy engine or find a used one, they are dirt cheap. You can find LS1 engines for under 1500 bucks. What other engine that makes 300 rwhp can you find that cheap?

Its not very common though.

I think its more due to price. The ease to Build a SBC.

Im a GM guy and I would take the new 5.0 over a new SS ANY DAY. The New Camaro's are turds!

If I had a Fox, I would drop an LS1 in a heartbeat. 300+ whp and reliable. You put, HCI on an old 5.0 and your looking at around 300whp. HCI on an LS1 and your around 400-500?

Displacement is king on that one, and like one member said, You can get an LS1 for around $1500 and thats 300-320whp right out the box.

I did it cause in the long run it was cheaper. I don't mind working on Ford motors. But when it comes to hp for your $$$ you can't beat it.

Plus I enjoy the looks the car gets when they see the plate..

The LS1 is cheaper, more reliable, and gets better MPG than the Ford of the same era (5.0 and 4.6). if you look at the LS3 versus the Coyote (new ford 5.0), the LS3 is smaller (pushrod versus DOHC) and is MUCH cheaper to modify (1 vs 4 cams, heads are less complex, technology has been out longer).

I dont know if the 351C or 351W is any better or worse than the 350 SBC. I wouldnt swap one of those for the other to mismatch car and motor.
