Default 110 octane and now car is running like crap

put 110 octane in the car and almost immediately started idling funny. In park while running idle would go up and down and then stall out. At a stop light when i would come to a stop it would die out. car ran perfect on 100 octane and I still have about 30% of the 110 octane left in the tank. anyone have any ideas? car ran perfect before i placed 110 in it. Thanks

Was the 100 unleaded? I'd Look at the o2 sensor leaded fuel can kill them quick.

my buddy who took me to the Citgo said he is pretty sure it is unleaded but he could be wrong. pcm is tuned to pass emissions so I am not sure if an SES light will come on or not. I know that an SES light does turn on for an o2 sensor. gonna have to use a scanner i guess to see if o2 sensors are working. do you know what diagnostic tool/ scanner works best? might have to invest in one. Thanks.

Go to this gas comparison link - it shows that Citco 110 "is" leaded. ( I have no idea how accurate this site is).

interesting...thanks. I am just shocked that it would damage my o2 sensors that fast. I had no idea. (then again I am no genius when it comes to cars). I wonder if this has happened to anyone else.

Been drag racing since the late 80s and I've never seen 110 unleaded, not
saying it doesnt exist but i've never seen it. Also in my Turbo regal It has killed the sensor instantly more than once, like you said thats why I suggested it.

If using leaded race fuel with 02's you MUST put some unleaded fuel in it. If you put say 5 gallons of 110 I'd say at least one gallon of 93 must be used to keep it from killing the sensors.

I had aboutt a 1/4 tank of 100 octane when I put the 110 in. Didn't know about needing 93 in it. Thanks guys, you have all helped a ton.

If the fuel was leaded, you may have coated the sensors and ruined them. Find a scope, probe the O2 sensor return circuits to the PCM. Make sure they're switching between 0.1-0.9v rapidly. If not, there's your problem. More than likely that's not it, as an O2 out of range or slow switching would pop an SES light.

I wonder how much of that 110 is sold from that station...You may have gotten a load of nasty fuel. That would be more likely than an instant O2 failure..
As for adding 93 to prevent O2 failure??? Only may delay the inevitable, & dilute the octane you were after to begin with.

My buddy filled up his Camaro at the same time as I did from the same station and his car ran fine on the 110 and still is running fine so I doubt it was a bad batch of gas.

Wait!!!! A gas station has 110 octane fuel??? At the pump??? We can't even get 93 around here! Pics or it didn't happen!

And I have to agree with the poster above me. Run VP Fuels! Either MS 109, or VP100 aka Street Blaze 100. Unleaded and oxygenated. Good stuff!

FWIW....
MS 109 is 109 Research octane, and 101 Motor octane.....105 R+M/2 (At The Pump)
VP100 Is 104 Research, 96 Motor, 100 Pump

Used to sell VP Racing Fuel, so I'm kinda biased.

Hope you tuned correctly for that. You can't run MS109 without fattening up your tune.
