Angry Autometer Wideband Problem

I didnt know if this was the right forum or not, but i figure all you tuning guys use widebands more than most people and have more experience with them. the problem im having is that the guage is reading 14.7 all the time. of course, you would normally think the sensor is fouled out. since this has happened once before, and changing to a new sensor helped the problem, thats what i did again. i put a brand new sensor in.
So now what happens is i turn the car on, the sensor counts down to zero and then starts reading correctly, for about 30 seconds and then BAM, back to solid 14.7. i took my console apart and checked the connection of the connector at the back of the guage and all was well. what the hell is the problem here? I doubt the sensor fouled out in less than 2 hours of driving the car. could my guage unit be bad?? its an expensive failure for sure.

I called autometer today, and he told me that the guage is in lockdown mode because of EMI. thats electromagnetic interference for you youngsters. I doubt that is correct, because it worked fine til now. so idk what to really do about it.

Typically you would try to reroute the wires away from other wires and probably change to a different ground. i used an existing ground on the car. i dont feel its EMI personally, i think the gauge unit is probably going bad already. it worked today while i was driving for about 20 minutes. then when i turned the car off and on again, it started acting screwy again. weird. if it were emi, why would the gauge have worked for like 1.5 years before this summer?
