Default Simple exhaust rattle fix ...

The culprit was a broken exhaust hanger. The exhaust bend over the axle tube was right against the heat shield. You can see where "my welder" attempted a fix when he welded my drag bar mounts in, but it didn't last long ... basically, the ride home!

Ordered a new exhaust hanger. Used ones were available, but why take a chance of it happening again ....

Old hanger out ...

New hanger in, but instead of bolting it in the stock position, I drilled new holes slightly to the left to give the exhaust more room to move away from the heat shield.

Cool beans. Exhaust rattles drive me nuts. I have one but I believe it is my DMH cutout.

Walker makes one and you can get it on summit. Its a nice piece and I think it was like 14 bucks... Its the same on the 3rd gens too so it may be listed under that

Is it a replacement for this one? I wish I had known that before I bought this one. Oh well, hopefully, that info will save some else a few dollars. Here is the part number so it will be picked up in a Google or LS1Tech search for someone.

GM Part # 10275709

It looks like summit just has the grommet which is why it would only be 13 bucks. It's under 3rd gens too.

Advance Auto Parts has this item in Walker Part # 35648, around $15.00. Fits gen 3 cars too with V8. Keith

This is actually for 1982-1997 f-bodies, but it might still work. I am just more inclined to use an actual replacement part for my specific application even though it's a few dollars more.

^ Check the fuel lines, mine were rattling ever so slightly to drive me insane a while back.. i ended up looking under the car and they were hitting the heat shield or something easy to bend by the drivers side, quick fix!

Nice job op!

My rattle was definitely a metal to metal sound and was obvious it was the exhaust ... the over the axle tube was right up against the heat shield. The sound would go away with rpm's and would rattle at idle.

The one on Summit is the whole thing. They are a sponsor too. Theyre exactly the same on my 89 and my 2000 so the 3rd gen one will fit fine.

Sorry to bring up a dead thread. Anyone have a P/N for the arm that goes into this mount?
