Default American racing headers 1 7/8 and starter doing battle!!!!

i just put a motor in a 2001 camro and i done it like i always do. drop kmember bolt motor and trans on it with wiring harness headers pretty much everything but starter because u got to feed the wires from harness to it. well i go to put the starter on and it WILL NOT go by the header. i even loosened the header but it hits the kmember and it still wont go in ! ive done several cars with kooks hooker tsp etc, and never had this problem! im going to try n take it off tomorrow and let it drop down and hopefully it will go on. its room once u get it in there just wont go by headers! anybody else had these problems? the customer tells me (well they got good reviews) well i aint never had this problem with none of the others ive used so i dont see anything good bout them!!!!!!

Have the same set up. Keep wiggling it around with patience. It will go. Once I've tried for 30 min, took a break, tried again and it fell in place.

pretty much 99% of people on here would disagree with you. ARH makes some of the best if no the best ls1 headers the quality is 2nd to none and so is the fitment. notice that underneath that car the headers arent really close to hitting anypart of the body and they clear the ground quite well? cant say that about every header setup especially 1 7/8ths tubes. starters hitting headers isnt specific to arh. I have seen people struggle with pacesetters and kooks with starters and those were 1 3/4" with 1 7/8ths i can see how issues arrise.

when **** like this happens, follow these steps:
1. STOP what you're doing
2. Go grab a cold beer
3. Sit down and watch tv for 15-30 minutes
4. If your beer is gone before the show is over (which is should be), grab another
5. Go back out, and it will probably go right in

I had this problem too with my ARH 1 7/8's. I had to install the starter first all the way, then I slid the header up into place. I also had to clearance, (grind the **** outta it) the k-member a bit because it was hitting, I too have a stock k-member. But once it was all done, the headers looked awesome! They tuck really tight to the motor/oilpan. It is definately snug but worth the 30hp on the dyno over my hooker 1 3/4's...

I put in my ARH headers 1-7/8" without touching the starter whatsoever. Engine hoist up a couple inches and we may have removed a bolt from the alternator I think but yeah pretty much slid it. Nice and tight.

Your 30hp increase was from headers only?

Yea, I dunno.

Maybe 30 over the stock manifolds and cats, but I don't see 30 over 1 3/4 headers.
