Default Nissan GU Patrol GM 6ltr L98 V8 6L80E 6 speed Auto conversion

hey this is my 98 GU patrol, right now its got a dead 2.8ltr turbo diesel.
After pricing up a 4.2 turbo diesel engine conversion i through it might be more fun and for around the same price to do some thing else. im just about to start an engine conversion of VE ss L98 6ltr v8 and GM 6L80E 6 speed auto in to the old patrol

got transfer case adaptor and got that transfer case out
The input seal cover plate will need to be changed to a 4.2 cover or chopped as the adaptor hits the lip coming off it under the seal
Also got the new sump kit the other day should clear the front axle no problems

will be using the ve ss gear selector

got the gear box and the transfer case bolted up together just making sure every thing fits as it should
ended up cutting the tab off the front of the seal housing on the transfer case wont be needed any more plus i could not get a second hand seal housing and a new one was $365 ex Japan!

got the sump on there also making sure every thing lines up

found the new sump dose not have a taped out hole to fit the oil pressure relieve valve im guessing the L98 dose not have one built into the oil pump ??? if any one knows info on this would be good to know ??
so i guess ill have to drill and tap out the new sump to fit the valve just to be on the safe side

tab cut off should be fine as there will no longer be any oil in this section of the power train

rear of gear box cut to size as per marks adaptors instructions

ALL most 1.2 meters long

Unless you swapped the complete accessories to a truck style as they are high mount not sure there is an aftermarket braket out there.

Might check out Kiwk perf. though.

Accroding to Chris @ MAST Motorsports, you DO NOT need to add the pressure relief valve if you use a AC Delco PF-48 filter. The filters have the pressure relief valve built in to them. I researched this a while back once I couldn't find the matching tap for mine. (at least two different threads were used on them)

I saw Nissan Patrol and thought "He's not in North America". Still will be fun to watch at least.

Good to see another WA person on here. I've got a spare LY6 top mount for the alt and power steering pump from my swap motor. PM me to see if it's any good to you.

Cheers,
Barra.

cheers mate thanks but i just order one last week from the u.s a new top mount alternator bracket from a C6 corvette only cost 150 to get here

i might just run the commodore radiator and fans for now as i can get a new genuine radiator, air con condenser and fans with shrouding for $660
just a bit worried it might not like being loaded up in the soft sand on a 40'c day
only really one way to find out

well i got the engine in and the new mounts welded on
i got the wirering harness back from killa kustom kables
have spent 50hrs on making my own set of headers
still have the fuel pump to deal with, mounting the go pedal, making a patrol shifter work the tranny, short out what i want to end up doing with my pulley set up for my alternator if its get the c6 alternator and power steering pump and making my own aircon pump bracket or just changing it all over to run a ls1 pulley set up and just run marks brackets but for now i have run out of money

This is epic! My two favorite Nissans are the Patrol and the Stagea. We never get the good stuff
