this has a threaded fitting and seal into each head behind the intake. What is it called? I need new seals to put it back on after a head swap
the parts store has no clue
the fbody parts manual does not show it

It is called a steam pipe. Dealer sales seals, had two seals per side of head.

I used oil pan plug washer on mine. I picked em up from local part store.

There is a thread replacing them with AN fittings and push loc hoses. Looks awesome costs about 60 bucks and will never have to worry about it again. Specially if you take the heads off, its a paint to get the banjo bolts.

Steam pipe is still available from dealer, bought one last week for 97 camaro, comes with new pipe, both bolts and washers.

I just did the -AN/Aeroquip conversion and it cost $100. Never gone bust knuckles again on them stupid banjo bolts.

I just used the copper plumbing fittings from Home depot $10 in parts about No clue why people spend so much on AN fittings for this simple piece.

inb4 they defend the quality and security of it not leaking, when copper plumbing fittings are used for the same thing in homes.

Copper is used in a house and is soldered. You just put a soft metal into a soft metal. Piping in your house doesn't hit 200 degrees. Plus way to make your car look a redneck put it together, you should just make a PVC cold air intake while you're at it. YEEEEHAW! *spits in spittoon*

I ended up doing the AN conversion. It was pretty simple and straight forward. It looks nice too.

Copper washers have been sealing banjo bolts since they were invented. Nothing wrong with that method. Look at any brake caliper, even on your 20k harley. You can't see them behind the heads anyway.

He didn't say copper washers. He said copper fittings as in copper plumbing. A copper crush washer is perfectly fine.

OOPS, you're right. I should read closer.
On the subject of copper crush washers I've given this some thought and in this application I don't think they would be the correct alternative choice. Sometimes they can take quite a bit of torque to seal correctly and the aluminum of the head may strip before they crush correctly. The factory type washers or AN fittings are the way to go.
