Excellent cam on Stock heads? need help
Thanks
If you do not need to pass emissions, I would use a 228/236 .574/.571 110 LSa cam It will keep you pinned in the seat til 6300 RPM (about as high as you would wanna take a stock bottom end LT1).
If you do need to pass an emissions "sniff test), I would use a 224/230 .573/.568 112 LSA cam.
$300 shipped for a custom cam.
Looks like I might go with this custom cam

that cam above is what I used 2 years ago on a bone stock long block with stock a4 and 3.23 gear with a 3600 stall. I had the car lightened and it ran low 12s all day on motor. Then sprayed the **** out of it. The car ran very well being cam only.
Cant see it on unported stock heads but could be wrong.

I'd def...get the crane double springs and swap them out right there in the engine bay....don't know about the seals and such...I say skip em...and step up to roller rockers 1.7 all the way around that's gonna get that lift into the .600 territory.
What's your mileage? If its not too high..you could revisit the seals later if you rip the heads off and have them ported.

drives like stock with a bit of lope. i would consider it. AI makes something very very close...226/234 574/578 or something.
that is as big as you want to go with stock heads IMO.......sure you can run a cc306 but it wont really make any more power than the 226/234 and you will need to rev it to the moon.
in short, call LE or AI, they will cut you something exactly for you needs/setup.
once you have a GOOD set of heads you will want it than. So now the money could be put towards the cam/springs/timing chain/rockers/etc etc
also, 125k..... may not be the best idea to cam a motor like that. but its your car so........
My cousin is running the Taboo GM847 on a stock bottom end, stock head LT1 (6-speed), and guess what, the car didn't melt to the ground the first time he stasrted it!!!
But you would have to revisit the seals prob...later when you should get them ported.
You might want to do a compression test on the cylinders to see how well your sealing before you buy a cam as 125K depending on how well it was treated could be worst or better varying from engine to engine. You'll have some info to help u make a decision then based on your wear. Remember you'll be increasing cylinder pressures.
