Question 2004 Chevy Colorado LS1

Pulled the 4 Cylinder out of a brand new 2004 Chevy Colorado to give it a little more power. Obviously, an LS1 was the best choice!

Anyway, got it running and driving , but, having some problems getting the ABS to work without flashing codes and working erractically.

Anyone out there be able to offer some advice, or recommend someone who can give me some help with this?

Must be a mean ride, sorry man, don't know anything about the ABS and codes, maybe you should take it to a pro tuner in your area?

Get in touch with Speartech. They do all sorts of conversions and build harness'. They also do custom programming and know about a lot of the problems that conversion people face.

I am planning on buying a Colorado within the next 6-12 months.

You have got to post pics of that thing..
How did it fit? Auto or stick?

it should've come like that from the factory!

Can you tell us more about the swap? I'm wanting to get a truck, but I don't think I could stand a 4 cylinder for long.

What rear axle do these trucks have? I was told that was the reason that the S10 never got a V8 (not even a 4.3L L99 or 5.0L L30)

Could you imagine the looks at a dealership when this goes in for warranty work?

I was looking at the Colorados too and wished they had it in V8 or V6 turbo like the Syclones.

Hmmm.... AWD Colorado with a LS2.

Do you have any specifics on your ABS problem? Have you pulled the codes with a scanner? What PCM and wireing harness configuration did you use to run the motor? This very well could be an incompatibility beteen the Colorado's gauge cluster, body control module, your upgraded PCM, wiring harness pin outs or any mix of the above.

Excellent swap by the way. Would you mind offering up a few juicy details about how it drives after the LS1 install?

the s10 has the same rear as the fbodies, its a 7.5". i'm not sure about the colorado's. the 4x4 s10's have the 8.5. i did the ls1 swap with my s10. i bought the carrier and gears out of a ws6 and swapped them out. i went from a 4:10 open to a 3:42 limited slip.

Default Need to know the 411 on that beast!

I have just bought a colorado 3.5 reg cab auto there are no up grades for this thing. Iwould be wondering if you know any body that has one that has any thing done to it besides yours. Also how these things run E.Ts. how yours runs with a ls1 and if it will still will be able to go to the bad guys at the D.M.V. mine is my daily driver so I have to keep it smog leigal.I have seen in sport truck mag a canyon with a turbo, thats cool with 350horse 350tq.
I guess runs mid 13's.Any more colorados or canyons out there!

Default ls1 colorado update finally

Sorry I didn't get back to anyone sooner, but trying to get all the bugs out. First of all it is a 1999 camaro ls1 with 6 speed trans, made all my own mounts, used stock driveshaft, my own custom exhaust. Got a painless harness and a 1998 pcm, The truck computer didn't like this idea at all, so I said you don't like the ride, get off. I had to rewire the dash and A/C controls, starting system and added my own gauges. Used an aluminum radiator and an electic fan (in front) and the rest will be history. It goes like crazy, lots of wheel hop ( working on that ) gas mileage ain't that great, but when I learn to keep my foot out of it , or my first ticket, I assume it probably will get better, was going to Superchevy this weekend but the kid had to work. Well that's about it, so good luck to anyone who is crazy enough to try this on such a new vehicle, OOOh I forgot I live in a area where the man doesn't sniff tailpipes.
