Since you posted this question in the advanced engineering section, I'm going to give you an appropriate answer.

If you want to learn about internal combustion engines and how they produce power, go on Amazon and purchase a relative technical book.

Use the search first and figure out what works best for your budget.

But here is a good starting place.
All LS motors respond very well to head/cam swaps. Depending on your budget this may not be possible. If you can only afford one of the two get the cam (still not cheap). Before you enter the cam world there are a few things to look into first.

Headers, Y pipe, and exhaust are great mods to start with and can give you a solid 20-30 hp at the wheels. Depending on what your engine is in a lid or intake may also help. If you can find a good deal on a LS6 intake manifold given yours is still a LS1 manifold this is also a good budget mod. Tuning is also a good idea after changing your intake and headers. Some headers change the location of your O2 sensors.

Cam is not cheap my friend. You better figure $2000 if you are not doing the work your self.

The cam its self is cheap 300 or 400 bucks. But you also have to add push rods and valve springs to that list $250-$350. Tuning is going to be almost a must so thats another $350. Most shops will charge about $500 for the install on the valve springs and cam. If you have a A4 car you will also need a converter.

It would help to know the platform you are starting with. Manual or auto? fbody? Emissions testing in your area?

Your car is already faster than most cars out in the street. How fast are you trying to go?

The slp package is the biggest waste of money ever, only thing thats really good slp is a lid which can be had for under 80 used,it really depends on if you have an auto or stick,if its stick, tsp 17/8th longtubes, tsp duals,no bigger than a 230s cam, some decent heads or stock ls6 heads will work,ls6 intake, and best save up for a rear end since the 10 bolt is beyond weak, just research alot,i would do the heads n cam at once especially if your paying for labor, and then you will also need a good tune,i wouldnt trust a mail order tune on a go kart

Forget everything anyone ever told you... just spray a 150 shot.. I'm sure the price and the power you get out of it will over exceed your expectations...

full exhaust, lid, gears, 150 wet shot and a tune (frost) will put a smile on your face. keep street tires and say a prayer for your ten bolt daily.

If you have the money - forged internals and boost it.
If you want the best bang for the buck - spray it.

Otherwise - bolt-ons & cam (lid, headers, cutout, intake, pulley, clutch, 9"rear-end, gears)

Every power adder has its plus/minus. The only thing that most agree on is more cubes make a good base for any upgrade.
