Default Group Buy Opportunity: McLeod RXT Twin-Disc 1000 HP Ceramic Clutch

Forward:
S-K Speed has agreed to offer a package discount on McLeod RXT twin disc ceramic clutches, McLeod pilot bearings, and your choice of steel or aluminum McLeod or RAM flywheels. Due to pressure from several members who need to meet build schedules or are going on deployment, I'm starting this group buy a little bit ahead of schedule.

From the brochure:
The McLeod RXT Street Twin clutch kits are ideal clutches for the extreme horsepower enthusiast who wants an economically priced clutch kit that does not include a flywheel. Able to handle up to 1,000 hp, the RXT Street Twin clutches are for those who have kicked it up another notch, but still require streetability. The ceramic facing on the clutch discs provides slightly aggressive engagement with a soft pedal effort, making these clutches suitable for most street performance enthusiasts.

Additional features include:
* Alignment tool
* Lighter-than-stock pedal feel
* Will bolt to factory flywheel
* CNC-machined and anodized flywheel adapter ring
* Smooth engagement with excellent release qualities
* Ceramic facings on disc increase holding power over similar organic linings
* Low rotating mass or quick revs
* Blanchard ground floater with multiple straps to reduce noise for streetability

The Rules:
  1. We need a minimum of 5 orders. To be considered eligible, you must order a clutch, pilot bearing, and flywheel. I know for a fact (checked with multiple distributors) that the deal that we're getting on the McLeod RXT and parts is EXCELLENT. We're cutting it very, very close to what McLeod is selling these to the vendors and they're not making much money.
  2. I will establish a date 2-3 weeks from now where all members need to be paid in full. If we do not get the minimum five orders, the group buy will be cancelled and S-K Speed will refund your money in full. I will update this thread with a headcount from both here and the Cadillac Forums as Mike updates his headcount.
  3. I have not factored in shipping costs or tax yet. I will update this thread as more information becomes available. Worst case, according to S-K Speed's shipping table, you'll be out $30 for S&H. No whining!
Useful Literature:
  1. McLeod RXT website.
  2. This write-up provides great pictures and good impressions from the owner of SVT Performance.
  3. Dragzine's news article and supplementary article on the McLeod RST and RXT.

Pricing:
McLeod RXT Clutch P/N 6932-07 $765
(Stock Photograph)
MSRP: $1125, Street price: $900 on Summit

McLeod Steel Flywheel P/N 460530 $290
(Stock Photograph)
MSRP: $399, Street price: $319 on Summit

McLeod Aluminum Flywheel P/N 560530 $440
(Stock Photograph)
MSRP: $733, Street Price: $472 on Summit

Ram Aluminum Flywheel P/N 2550 $360
(Stock Photograph)
MSRP: Unknown, Street price: $375 at Summit

Ram Steel Flywheel P/N 1550 $255
(Stock Photograph)
MSRP: Unknown, Street price: $275 on Summit

McLeod Pilot Bearing $25
(Specify motor and transmission when ordering)

Summary:
Post if you're interested and have money in hand. The most clutch and flywheel package, assuming no tax and $30 S&H should range from $1095 to $1260, depending on which flywheel option you pick. PMing me is not necessary--I check these forums every day.

Supplemental Weight and Rotating Inertia Comparison (rough):

GM LS7 Clutch Assembly (#24255748): 33.0 lbs
Fidanza LS7 Aluminum flywheel: 13.5 lbs
Total LS7: 46.5 lbs

McLeod Clutch Assembly (6932-07): 21.5 lbs
McLeod LS1 Aluminum Flywheel: 13.5 lbs
Total McLeod: 35.0 lbs

Diameter of LS7 friction disc: 11.50 inches
Diameter of McLeod friction disc: 9.69 inches

Moment of Inertia of LS7 clutch: Iz = (1/2)*(46.5 lbs)*(11.50 inches / 12 inch / ft)^2 = 21.35 lb-ft^2
Moment of Inertia of McLeod clutch: Iz = (1/2)*(35.0 lbs)*(9.69 inches / 12 inch / ft)^2 = 11.41 lb-ft^2 (47% less)

(The above assumes entire assembly is inestimably thin and has friction disc diameter)

These clutch packages should work with almost all Gen III and Gen IV LS-series engines.

I'd rather put a copy of this post in there, rather than take it away from here.

I was asked by two members (one at LS1Tech and one at CF) to get the ball rolling on this ASAP. Including me, that's three. I don't think we'll have any trouble meeting the five minimum.

Few questions.

1a)I require in approx 5 weeks time, is this possible?
1b)does shipping address have to match billing address? (I ask because i have items shipped to south side of border for manual pickup.)
1c) is CC an acceptable method of payment?

2. what about slave cylinder?
3. Remote bleeder?

I will be going with the clutch / mcleod steel flywheel.

I don't recall. It's either their C5 or C6 standard part but with a different fitting. Call Tick or LAPD and tell them that you want to order the version of their remote bleeder suitable for the first generation CTS-V.

Additional, CTS-V-specific bleeder discussion:

If shipping address doesnt match billing address, I would just have you email or fax me a copy of a driver license that matches the billing address, as well as just a signed form I have authorizing the purchase.

PM me about any questions.

Thanks! Mike
