Default direct injection = more horsepower ?

does direct injection create more horsepower or is it just a more efficient way of getting fuel into the engine?

By itself, I don't think so, but it allows you to raise the compression ratio, and also lowers emissions.

I always had that exact same question. I always heard people saying the direct injection equals more HP. Is it because of the higher compression ratio that lets you gain more HP?

di lets you run higher compression do to lower temps. Higher compression gives you more tq and that is more hp.

im not an engineer but lookin at the new 6.2 model at the autoshow it looks fairly simple for a cylinder head company to take a set of heads and design them for direct injection on gen 3 and gen 4 motors. but then that would also require redigning fuel rails, injectors, and an intake manifold. probably not worth it

Agreed^ doing DI makes you start changing stuff around for the same reason. Labor for all that is also more expensive.

I think this is one of those situations where if you car didn't come with DI straight from the factory, it would probably be cost prohibitive to do a conversion, and for not very much gain at the end of the day.
