Default Delphi vs ACDelco Coils (huge price difference, why?)

Can anyone explain why the price between these are so much different? Is the delphi actually NOT a delphi, but some knockoff?

http://www.ebay.com/ctg/ACDelco-D514...p2047675.l2644

$14 a piece vs. $66??

I recognize that Delphi was the spinoff/sold off portion of GM, but is this legit? Anyone ran these????

Yea, there was one set of "visual defect" Delco's for cheap. And a lot that say Delco, but when you go in and read they say Delphi. If you go on JEGS or Summit, or any other major store, they are the $66 /piece variety..

acdelco doesn't manufacturer anything them selves. They are nothing more than a reseller. Delphi is the manufacturer. You buy delco you get delphi/denso/visteon. and so on

On the same vein of thought I do not understand GM's pricing. There is a big disparity in pricing with similar parts. These coils being an example. Electric fuel pumps is another. One can be $125 and the next one $300. Fortunately for me the $125 one was what I needed and had more gallons per minute.

The $14 coils are factory seconds/rejects.

Do you know this, have a source? Or just guessing? It does make sense, but just want to know the fidelity of this.

"Products purchased in bulk (surplus) may contain scratches or blemishes that will not impact their performance."

i took that directly from the ebay link you posted.

i like this topic as i am looking to purchase ls2 coils for my Holley valve covers.

my questions are:

are these factory rejects because they didnt function properly or because they are visually scratched/blemished ? does Delphi still sell non-functioning coils to retailers like on ebay ?

if these are factory seconds because of a small cosmetic blemish, i'm still going to purchase them, if there is a chance they will not function properly .. i'm going to purchase a used set.

Interested also. There seem to be a few places selling coils. Many claim OEM, but it seems reality doesnt always match those claims.

I bought a set of 8 incl brackets off ebay, the coils are un-marked, no part numbers and have black epoxy. They were sold as new GM takeoffs, but strangely each bracket assembly was bagged as if a new part. Not a takeoff.
And after fitting discovered 2 coils do not work.

I'm now in the situation where I dont trust the rest of the coils, and looking for replacements.

Delco, Delphi I'm happy to buy. These are well known OEM brands. I see others though, Herko ?

Herko sell on ebay, but advertise their product as ACDelco coils, which seems very misleading to say the least.

Is there another company, Standard Ignition ? Who are they ?
