Monsoon Speakers
2 of my original speakers are blown in my SS. I want to keep the factory stereo. What speaker options are available? I would like some thing better than stock. Also, are there any sponsors here?

As long as you keep using the monsoon (junk) head unit you will continue to blow speakers. It is of low quality and the signal it sends to your speakers is distorted. Which is why you blow speakers. I replaced door speakers and sail panel speakers many times. Then I switched out the monsoon head unit for an aftermarket head unit and all was well. I eventually upgraded my speakers put aftermarket door speakers sail panel speakers in the car. I still used the monsoon amp and the factory wiring and have never had a problem rockin out at high volumn since....
I got my sail panel speakers from Kee audio and they rock to say the least. Plus he is one of our supporting vendors and is local to me. A real good guy and he will not steer you wrong.

I have no issues with my aftermarket speakers and my Monsoon HU. I switched it out at first, but hated the look of the aftermarket radio. I am happy with my tape deck People always ask about the tape deck when they see it.
I run Infinitys up front (wired kinda like component), Kickers in the sails, Kickers in the rears and Infinity Basslink in the spare tire area.

The aftermarket head unit that I used fits the 1 1/2 din size hole that the car came with. It is a Pioneer unit. I doubt that is still available as I put it in about 7 or 8 years ago. I get compliments on the sound system all the time. I looks good and sounds better. Beleive me when I tell you that the factory monsoon head unit is junk. Ask any auto sound professional that is familar with these cars and they will tell you the same thing. Your after market speakers are going to be harder to blow than the factory ones. But your sound quality will never be very good as long as you are hooked up the that monsoon head unit. Nuff said ... rock on dude...

I had to replace my first speaker in the sail panel a few weeks ago. Car only has 18k miles on it too....I do turn the music up quite loud when I drive though. I would have upgraded but really didn't want to cut all the ends off and replace with new ones. So I just ordered a new Monsoon off amazon and turned the bass down.
