Default Exhaust cut-outs

Hi, weigh in -do these have "Real World" Performance benefits or is it all about the loud exhaust note? Thanks in advance. I Googled but couldn't find any definitive answers.

It's mostly just the noise. Any power gains are negligible.

Hi, I see you have DMH Cut outs, were they worth the cost? Do you use them often? Thanks

If you have a really good flowing exhaust system already then the power is very minimal if any for the most part

I've had a decent experience with DMH. Unfortunately most others on the forums have had terrible communication with them and can't place an order or get them fixed if needed. Because of this, I can't really recommend them. Otherwise they are a great product.

If your exhaust is decent, ist just noise. If you have a very restrictive exhaust they can make a difference.

What they said. On a stock exhaust its will make a significant difference in power and noise. But if you already invested money in a good exhaust it's not worth it IMO.

Default Cut-Outs

Cut-Outs are great with a bigger than stock cam, ported heads, or bigger injectors. If you are planning a build, you are on the right track.

Like said i would definetly recommend a cutout if you have to deal with smog or have the stock system. Alot of people have it dumped at the axle as did i when i had one this is a perfect spot for it.

I dynoed my 01 ws6 back to back one with cutout open and one with closed on the same dyno jet. Bone stock my car made 310/339. With nothing but a cutout open on the y pipe my car made 322/349 just to give you some real life dyno numbers.

Depending on exhaust setup and engine setup people do see alot of gains.

My car feels slower doing WOT pulls with my cutout open lol. I doubt with my exhaust it'll make more then 5-10hp max over the magnaflow. Now with turbos theres crazy hp differences with an open cutout. Dont get me wrong at idle and WOT the open cutout sounds mean but driving around with a stalled auto its raspy and I have it like half way open.

with a good exhaust system it it minimal. What we have seen is this...12rwhp BUT car can be faster or slower with cut-outs open at the track. It appears that there is something interesting going on in the relationship between loss of low end torque, gain in top end hp, and density altitude. Most days it's about .06 quicker with the cutouts open, but when da is around 400 or lower it may be faster with them closed. Dunno why.

I would think on my car I might see 10rwhp extra.
Electric ones would be nice but they are $.
I have heard open cutouts across a Walmart parking lot one time. It was an lt1 car. He was doing a burnout and it was one of the most bad assed sounds I have even heard.
