Default Quietest aftermarket gears for Moser 12 bolt?

I am finally fed up with the gear whine from my Moser 12 bolt. It has 4:11's. I had a shop reset the gears and they needed to be shimmed. That quieted it some, mostly on deceleration but the acceleration whine is driving me nuts! I have heard that Motives and Richmonds gears are not as noisey as Mosers. Who makes the quietest? My car is 99.9% street.

Motive Gear. Double lapped, nice patterns, excellent choice!

I am partial though, I work for them.

It is mostly on the setup on how much noise they make.It is very hard to quiet gears after they have been driven longer than 50 miles making noise.

I think APE or HPE just said in another similar post that they can have Motives for a 12 bolt. Search for Motive in the sponsor section or this section. They are by far the quietest brand of gear I've had in mine. Alot has to do with the setup too like Slowhawk said. I've had 2 sets of US Gear/Strange and both were extremely hard to get a good pattern and were still noisy. The Motives were dead silent from the start.

It's more of the set up vs. the brand of gears IMO...

That is true, but some gears are just noisy no matter what. I have had some gears that just wouldn't get a pattern, and others that would get a perfect pattern and still be noisy. Brand does make a difference.

I would sat yes in most cases, but my story is quite the opposite.

I dropped in 5 sets of Motive 4.10s, all howled and went to **** within WEEKS.

I got fed up, called Speed Inc. to send me Richmonds instead, (and they are notorious for being louder.)

From day one, dead silence, same installer.

Wrong. Moser sells / installs US Gear / Strange gear sets.

Personally I think any brand gear can be setup to make no noise. Now, what happens once you start doing some hard launches is another story. It seems like the 9 inches are able to stay quiet, but the 12 bolts are another story.

My Richmond 3.90's whine in my Moser. I have heard that Richmonds are generally noisy because they have more nickle in them.

Not true. it all depends on how the gear set is machined and also how it is lapped. I do this for a living. I have had nothing but trouble with the motives in the past seems like I could get a drive pattern but no coast. I would use oem gears or richmond gears. the oem gears if setup up right will live. I run the oem gears in my mustang and never had a failure and it put down 550 at the rear tires with slicks.

I trashed and ditched 5 Motive sets in 6 weeks before I went to Richmonds. The Richmond 4.10s were dead silent for 3 years until I sold my stock rear.

Anybody have a quiet Moser 12bolt that has had some hard 6 speed launches on it?
My Moser gears were very quiet for a few hundred miles, til I started droppin the clutch at 6k. Now they make all kinds of racket mostly on decel.
