doubtful, cause a Lt1 car is a Iron block. I'd bet around the 500lb range....

well, an iron LS1 weighs about 80lbs more than an alum one. and the most of the internals of an ls1 are designed to be lightweight so i would say 500lbs for an lt1 is probably not far off

If that all the weight they saved making it aluminum wouldnt it have been better to just put a stronger block in.

The LS1 has 6 bolt mains and likes higher RPMs than LT1s . The also use steel sleeves in the cylinders. The LS1 is definitely superior to a LT1. Lighter weight , lower height ,and no Optispark are among a few of it's advantages.

They can handle some serious abuse. In stock form LS1's can handle near 500WHP NA or upwards of 550WHP and 8PSI with FI. Aftermarket internals raise those numbers greatly and with a girdle and pined billet maincaps the LS1 blocks can handle some serious power 1000WHP+ (more than most will ever need or use)

80LB's is a pretty big chunk of weight in the front of a car, it would definetely be a noticable change.

I used to have a LT1..I swapped to LSX and preferred to keep that Iron Block for the durability.. that and just to say I still have an Iron Block with a 4" Bore..

Damn, 3250 race weight with the iron block. That car was on a serious diet.
