Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm 99% certain that...
Both are simply RPO codes assigned by General Motors for quickly referencing the models. There is no deeper meaning to them. Enthusiasts like us flaunt them because they do make us stand out a bit amongst the rest.

There has got to be some deeper meaning to them.
I mean, they didn't just say "Hmmm, WS/6 sounds nice" "Alright, lets do it!"
There has to be some way they thought them up, even if they don't really mean anything.

Well, ALL 3rd gen Formulas and TransAms were WS6 as a standard feature right from the factory, so it certainly doesn't mean anything special on 4th gen cars. It's just an RPO code. (In fact, I believe there was even a WS6 option for 1st & 2nd gens as well).

WS6 is a RPO code. It was used on second gens as a handling package. Similar to the upgeade it gave a fourth gen. I see it all the time on cars in High Performance Pontiac.

WS6 stands for Wide Suspension 6 pieces. you got thicker sway bars, hence the Wide , and 4 stiffer spings, Suspension, and the combo consists of 6 pieces, 2 bars and 4 springs.
