Default lt1 without a mass air flow sensor?

A friend of mine recently purchased a 94 trans am. I was over helping him work on it and I noticed that it didnt have a maf sensor. the car seems to run fine does anyone know why there isnt one? I looked for the wires that would plug in to it but I found nothing. I know that previous years used a speed density but I didnt know that the lt1 was like that. Could this be it?

It could be a 94 that was built late into the 93 model year during their changeover time. GM does odd things like that from time to time.

SD conversions have been done a few times before to MAF cars.

Well come to find out it is a 93. He bought the car off of his brother and his brother had told him it was a 94. I went over and looked in the door and sure enough a 93. So since the car is a 93 and it is running off of a speed density system will this be a problem come modding time? Thanks for the replys

no problems.. The PCM houses a PROM that can be burnt instead of sending teh whole PCM off or flashing the entire PCM. The injectors are batch fire, The AIR system is a little different, Intake and fuel lines are slightly different etc etc..

BTW. I'm waiting for my 27 Cents

In all honesty once you start ripping in to it, not really any different. Tunning is, but you guys on speeddensity.org that know these cars and what works.
