Default how to port a throttle body?

Ok i'v bin looking into throttle bodys and MAF.. and decided to do both eventually.. but someone told me that theres no gain from stock with MAF's?? does anyone have proof of this? and about throttle bodys.. i could get a BBK or i could port mine?? or should i get the BBK and port it?? also is it worth it to port the MAF? i would rather buy a new one and have the stock as a spare just incase for emergency's.. and aftermarket MAF's don';t come ported do they? and would u gain power bye porting them? thanx for any help

Many of our sponsors sell ported MAF's. I recommend them over the BBK. For anything under a big CI car it's overkill.. and overpriced.

If you plan to port it yourself... you basically want to remove the ridge that runs around in front of the blade. just be careful not to grind in the area where the blade seals to close the throttle.

When I first heard of folks porting their own TB's or buying one already ported I was curious what material was being removed so I had a look at my TB and really couldn't tell where you guys are coming up with any gains here.. Nothing really jumped out that looked like it could obviously be removed.. Can anyone describe with a little more detail what area of the TB needs work?

THanks

Look at the pictures in this thread and compare them to your stock TB. https://ls1tech.com/ubb/cgi-bin/ulti...=000528#000017

or Thunder Racings Port TB

or
Speed, Inc's....

I would get my throttle body port and polish which will most likely give you one or two MPH at the end of the track--top end. Most avid racers do this mod---there is a reason, trust me. I highly recommend to do away with the BBK throttle body--been there, done that---waste of time and money and nothing but trouble---again trust me. Mark Shanner does a very good job. MY MPH went up by two on a hot day. I bought a GMAF and still use it. I have no experience with stock MAF. I have MAFT to gain a tenth in the past. Also, Jantzer has a very good product (TB)for reasonable price. Cheers and good luck. Kent.

What do you all mean the BBK suck? is it because they are exspensive for what you get or is it that they are really "bad"? I waiting on delivery of a basicly new BBK from a guy for $300.
