pros and cons to torque strap?

pros and cons to torque strap? I had a custom exhaust made, and it hits the floor just a bit when i launch the car. I was thinking of possibly putting a torque strap on the car to correct this. Is there any side effects to doing this...is so can you help me out.Thanks in advance guys!

1.)Keep my y-pipe from banging
2.)probably the reason i can pull the driver's side tire on launches <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
NEGS-
1.)possibly cause some KR if you don't mount it properly and the metal rachet part hits the k-member(if thats how you mount it)
I did it and it's worth it to me for the hooker y-pipe for the LT's. just make sure you get one strong enough to handle the stress. a friend already broke his

Re: pros and cons to torque strap? well, for pictures try putting "torque strap" into the search engine above and search this forum.
i just went to ace hardware and bought a few to try out. i ended up getting one at a car show. be sure it's a rachet strap type, not just the pull type one. the rachet strap allows you to really get it tight. be sure it's not too long though, and be sure to get one strong enough to hold the motor power like i said before. i got one and i knew it wasn't strong enough. thing was thin as paper. good luck!

Re: pros and cons to torque strap? another neg. is hafting to get under the car to tighten it every couple weeks. i cant keep mine tight <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> i think im going to go with poly mounts when i do my tranny

Re: pros and cons to torque strap? Mine stays pretty tight, tight enough for the y-pipe to never bang anymore. The way I put my ratchet strap on no metal touches metal.

Re: pros and cons to torque strap? I have the actual nylon part wrapped around the lower alternator bracket, then back though the hook. It's a cast bracket so it's pretty strong.

Re: pros and cons to torque strap? A engine torque strap will only minimize the y-pipe from banging, but won't eliminate it. My y was banging bad, so I found the wear spot on the floorboard where it was hitting, and wedged a piece of metal wrapped in foam between them. Not only did it get rid of the banging and false KR, it also works as an effective torque strap.

That one's for a Mustang, but there has to be a way to do something similar on the F-cars. I'm not a big fan of the ratchet straps; I just dont like the idea of the loose end of the strap flopping around and maybe getting caught in a fan, belt, etc...
Also, I'm looking for something that is a little cleaner-looking.
Not to be insulting; I just don't like the look of a nylon strap under the hood.
That one's for a Mustang, but there has to be a way to do something similar on the F-cars. I'm not a big fan of the ratchet straps; I just dont like the idea of the loose end of the strap flopping around and maybe getting caught in a fan, belt, etc...

And, like the other guy said, you can only see mine when you are under the car. And it's black, so you can barely see it even then. I like the Buick GN guys torque strap. A metal rod would be cool, but i need "some" flexibility to not vibrate the car too much.
