Default how much did your dyno tune cost

i guess this is in the right area, but how much are you guys coughing up for a dyno tune, because ive talked to 2 well know shops and asked for a dyno tune, and it seems like a rediculious price.

Well how much did they tell you? I was more than happy to pay 500 for my tune.

they both said 600 bucks, that just seems like a lot to me

i thought it would be more around 300-400 bucks.

maybe its just me, and i need to be not so cheap, but 600 bucks is a lot of money for somebody to tune your car.

i might wait untill i get a cam or something before i decide to get a tune

$500-$600 is "normal" for those who require a shop to dyno tune their car.
Figure about $75-$100/hr for the dyno time. In the case of 'stangs, a chip/programmer
is included in that price as well.

I don't trust many people (ok...anyone) with my car except for my tuner, but I'm sure
some local guys who aren't shop-affiliated can tune your car for you.

well after i do the exhaust, i mainly want to codes deleted and the air/fuel ratio to e adjusted because everyone tells me after i put full exhaust on it throws off the air/fuel ratio.

whenever i decide to get a heads and cam package, i wouldnt mind spending 600 on a good tune, but just for a bolt on car that seems simple to tune, 600 bucks seems like quite a bit

oh ya, im in southeastern michigan

I've always paid between $450-$550 for my 1st tunes and then usually $50-$100 bucks less for re-tunes after added mods except w/ Gomer@Walker Dyno who only charged $125(if i remember correctly) because he only had to fix a few things from a previous tune somewhere else.

$500 and some change for the first tune. Look for a tuner that offers lower pricing after the initial $500 fee on your 1st tune. It's worth it as you mod your car down the road.

Then you mainly are looking for a tune

...timing, A/F, code deletes, etc.

1.) Livernois
2.) Wheel 2 Wheel

Both are good and both are sponsors. Livernois is about 8 minutes
from Allen Park, but it will cost around what the others charge.

Thanks Unit. Like the old saying goes you get what you pay for, and its always nice to use a forum vendor.

For the full tune using hptuners + 2hrs of dyno time it cost me $510 and the difference in the car was night and day.

ouch! if i had to give 500 $ for a tune it would have only took me one time before i went ahead and got hp tuners or efi live.especially if they charge yoy that much and don't get you spot on in driveability also.just because it don't spark knock on the dyno dosen't mean it will be right on the street and if i had to shell out 500-600 bucks if it wasn't almost perfect i would be pissed.that is just my $ .02 but it sounds like the people having to spend that much needs to go ahead and get hp or efi and self tune.

But you have no problem spending $1000 + on a intake setup Some people don't have the time to learn tuning or even want to. We charge $500 which includes all street/dyno tuning. If there is a problem or you think there is a problem we check/adjust for free. Tuning software and dyno's cost us shops alot more than the $500 you spend

After seeing how the EFI live program works and all options you have i woudn't reccomend it to anybody without some tuning know how. You could do alot more damage than good. I would think my motor/tune is well worth the 500 bux. Just my .02 cents.
