Default So how long is "love bug" season?

There is a total infestation of love bugs here in pensacola. They are everywhere. THere is a dark black cloud of little fornitcating bugs lingering over my parking area.

How long does this last?

Yeah, some years are worse than others, depends on precipitation, temperature, etc. They're very acidic, don't let their guts stay on your paint.

Yeah, they eat right through your clear coat if you leave them on too long. From what ive heard, they were created at UF in G-ville and got loose. Keep your car waxed really good!

Well we invented Gatorade so do they offset?

Love bugs are a PITA, and lots of rain recently means more of em. We got lucky in the early season in spring, but this one will hurt. I drive 450 miles interstate travel every week to work, so you can imagine my car washing fun!

If you know you are going to be traveling through lovebugs, you can spray PAM on the front of the car. When you get where you are going you can just wipe them off.

WD40 with regular soap and water works for taking them off.

Malice, when did you get a C5? You need to bring some of the fleet back out for some more runs!

I work in a restaraunt and we've had a problem recently with palmetto and love bugs. The other day the whole outside bar was covered in them. The bar, tables, umbrellas, everything. They were like a cloud, we decided to just close.

Tonight, in the upstairs restaraunt we had a palmetto bug crawl up a guys leg. He got up and starting freakishly shaking his leg. We all knew instantly what it was. Thankfully he didn't make too big of a scene and nobody else knew what it was, just thought he was weird. One of my friends was joking and said, "Just tell him welcome to Florida. It's not a roach. It's a palmetto bug and they're the state bird, get used to them."

The UF thing is a myth.
They came from central america into louisiana in the 1920s

You can get dry love bugs off by using static dryer sheets. Just water and gently rub the bugs off. It leaves a residue from the sheets, so you have to clean that off right away, too.
