wow... that little?

You figure that adding ported and polished Camaro SS heads and intake would bring it back up to a respectable 300hp?

The problem was not the heads and the intake (the iron heads actually flow better). The cam was different. It was designed for lots of lowend torque and less peak HP.

The b-body LT1 was 260/330 all years and all models. As stated it was a torque monster with factory rev limit of 5500rpms that is why the low HP number the peak torque was slightly higher and earlier than the f-body just what a porky car with 2.56-3.08 gears needed.
There are a handful of bolton b-bodies in the 12s so anyone that thinks that motor is weak is a FOOL. It is the same exact shortblock as the f-body got too and got the vented opti in 94.

^^^ exactly. You swap a set of ALs on a B-car LT1 with no other mods, and about the only thing you're doing is saving weight. IIRC only the later year castings of the AL heads (96-97 or something) flowed better than the Cast versions on the 94-96 B and D cars.

You guys sounds very knowledgeable...
So would this setup be decent for hp and torque even though it started life as a d-body and now has f-body top end?

- 1996 Cadillac LT1
- 1997 Z28 SS heads & intake, ported, gasket matched, valve job
- Crane Cams 502

yeah it will make good power. You know took the "power" robbing cam out of the Caddy LT1.

As far as I knew, the b-body LT1 and the f/y-body LT1 were identical besides the heads and cam, and the Iron heads actually did flow better. Those things can be made FAST. I wasnt able to make it down MIR for Imports vs. Domestic's, but I heard a guy in a yellow and black Caprice that lives around here ran a 14.8 on 24's with a full system in the trunk. I'll tell you one thing...I love my Camaro to death, but the 94-96 Impala SS is easily one of the top 5 best looking cars EVER made. Period. If I had 12k or so laying around, I would so grab up a low mileage SS...

"pink" rods were in most early to mid run 94 year LT1s. a 94-95 B-car LT1 will have vented opti. 96 will also be vented with the addition of the Crank sensor..
