Default 4l60e not shifting under load

We have a 4l60e in a lt1 that shifts great whenever the car is driving normal and under light acceleration. But when you give it full throttle it will sometimes bounce off the rev limiter and then shift, and other times it wont shift at all and you have to let off and it will finally shift. It mostly does this on the 1-2 shift but it occasionally does it on the 3-4 shift the tranny has been rebuilt around 30k ago and has also had new shift solenoids. We have had someone tell us it may be the throttle position sensor the car is throwing No codes and the tranny fluid isnt bright red but it looks normal for the mileage, PLEASE HELP WE HAVE NO IDEA ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED we are just hoping we are not going to have to do another rebuild.

Well you could try a TPS also is the speedometer working correctly .You also might try tuning down the shift times a little

The speedo is working fine, and it seems like the problem has gotten worse as the more mods that have been put on the car, the problem started when the headers were added PERFORMABUILT i know yall are prettty reputable what do you think it might be?

Well my first thought is a tuning issue , More power means the rpm increase faster, There is a delay between commanded shift and actual shift most notedly with the stock trans or a trans without a shift kit , If the shifts ae set close to the rev limiter to begin with and you add power this can be exagerated even more and cause you to hit the limiter before the shift can actually occur, Alternatly the trans could be on its last legs even though the fluild may look ok bands and clutches can become glazed and loose some of there gripping strength means the more power applied the less they can hold

That makes a lot of sense i mean the car went from a 14.7@97 mph to almost full boltons minus under drives and a throttle body with the tranny acting up and letting off on the 1-2 shift to 13.94@100 and i think it could easily go 13.8 at 102 with the tranny prob fixed and the tranny is on stock settings and it appears it is supposed to shift at 6100? Thanks for all the help!

Default 4l60E

anything at all done to the trans? I see more people that waste 500.00 on making the motor faster with exhaust, chips and air intakes and nothing at all on the trans.. Not all stock units are created equal some much more sloppy then others..

you should at minimum get a shift kit , But keep adding on and you will be in the market for a trans we have some good deals on 4l60e lt1 type units like your right now .I can give you 100 off the listed price of any LT1 unit presently we seem to have collected a stock pile since most of our customers are LS1

Ok well just1news6 is talking about my car. The problem shifts are from 1-2 and 2-3. The car can sit for 2-3 weeks at a time without being started. I did notice that the tranny was leaking but I couldn't find out where. Then I noticed it was loose where it connnected to the radiatior. A lot of the times I will check the fluid and it is not burnt but has a dark color. Also I have had solinoids go out before, and this is different. When the solinoids went out it would not shift at all to that gear, it would simply skip it and go from 1st to 3rd. So what should I do frist? Get a new throttle positioning sensor, have the shift points lowered, get a tune, or just put it in the shop? I want to also thank performabuilt for all the comments.
