Turn signal keeps burnging out Hey guys, I did a search and couldn't really find an answer...but my turn signal keeps burning out...just on one side...I was wondering what to use to clean that socket out thinking that might be the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys...I just replaced it and did everything you guys said...it was pretty dirty with an orangish substance in it...dunno what that is...I guess if it burns out again I'll put a new socket in

Yea, fresh dielectric grease in the socket will help keep moisture from shorting out the light. Sometimes a minor crack or opening in the turn signal lens will allow moisture or rain in and short the bulb.

I usually used Di-Electric but drilling holes in the bottom of the turn signals doesn't hurt either, if your wanting them to last a long time I would do that. Usually the grease works for 2-3 months before needing to replace, welcome to driving a Camaro lol.

One of my *new* OEM turn signal lens' leaks I've tried just about everything other than replacing it to fix the problem and I still keep popping the bulb. Its always full of water.

Mine's doing the same thing. New bulb 2 weeks ago, and it stopped working already. It blinks for hazards though, not for the left turn signal. Stays lit for daytime driving. Should I use the grease or is mine a diff problem since it blinks for the hazards??

Same story here...first one started leaking and popping bulbs and then the other.
So where are you guys drilling the holes?...Underneath near the front or on the face of the lens near the bottom? I saw a diagram where Camaro's had a factory hole/slot on the face of the lens near the bottom many years ago.
Even with the drilling hole(s) deal this may stop the bulb from popping but the water is still coming in and hopefully going out the hole(s) so the socket may still be taking water in the process and eventually fail.
I saw something that makes me think the water may be coming in around the wires and into the socket and filling up the lens with water but there's no way to tell without replacing parts one at a time...see copied below;

I spent ages trying to solve that one as I had a real problem with it.
First I bought a new lens/bulb holder. When it filled right up again I sent
it all back and got another lens/holder. Still no luck.
Then I tried self-amalgamating tape all around the back of the assembly. A
few week later you could have kept a goldfish in the thing!
Finally worked it out though, water runs down the cable, into the connector,
down the pins in the bulb holder and comes out at the base of the bulb.
A couple of drops of runny cyanoacrylate glue and a squirt of accelerator
spray to set it sealed up the tiny gaps around the pins and solved the
problem.

I haven't tried the glue thing on the wires (or anything else yet) but it sounds about right that over time that heat from the bulb could cause the wires going into the socket to not be sealed...and leak when water runs down the wires and into the lens.
The bulb usually doesn't pop until the lens fills up a bit and splashes around on the hot bulb. I know one thing...I'm tired of replacing bulbs!!! It's a pain in the neck (and other places as well)
I guess it won't hurt to drill some holes...where are you guys drilling?

My drivers side quit working I replaced the bulb and it worked for 2 days. There was all kinds of crap built up on the connector. I went to the dealer to find out what a new one would cost. This is what someone from the STEALERSHIP told me to do. He said take a cup and pour a little coke in there and get under the car and put the connector in it for 10 min or so and dry it off and it will eat all the corrosion away. It sure did and it's and its been working fine for 8 months now.......
