Firebird/trans am power window problems
I'm wondering if anyone has had problems with their driver side power window, because I am. If so, was it the regulator, window motor, or both that fixed the problem. Mine will go down fine most of the time, but then when you try to put it back up it will go up a little, and then stop. Then you have to wait a while and try again and it will go up a little more. Repeat process until window is up. Not recommended for rainy days. Thanks for any input.

I'm in the process of changing out mine right now and I'll never attempt it again. I talked to one shop that specializes in F bodies and they said change out the whole motor and regulator assembly. Otherwise it's a BIG pain in the *** and I'm finding out the hard way.

Its really easy. I've done it twice now. The motor is just held in with a few rivets. No need to remove the regulator. You can do it in 30min - 1hr.

any issues with the rollers on the window track. Mine is broken and I was told it is a discontinued part. How can you discontinue a vital part on a late 90s car that has a history of window problems? Any input?

I installed new motor and regulator assemblies from Rockauto about 6 months ago and the windows work super well now! Ive found that Rockauto has lots of parts for these cars that are otherwise impossible to find outside of a junk yard, so I definitely second this recommendation!

We also recommend that members NOT replace the regulator but use the shbox method for motor replacement. This avoids the complexities of regulator changes and keeps longevity of the (fragile) door and the regulator rivet holes.
