car sputters after washing engine bay HELP!!! washed car saturday, including engine bay
immediately after, noticeable lack of power, sputtering, runs better when the pedal is down. possible misfire..
noticed a little water in coil plugs
the three connection one, not the spark plug one
still runs terrible today.
what is the problem?
what can i do to fix this?

lol you dont flood you engine! I have done it a 100 time with no problems. Also I made a thing to hook up to my shop vac to get into all those small areas to get all the water

I had the same problem after I washed my engine bay but mine went away after 15 minutes worth of driving. It would only do it when I approached 3500 rpms. If it was caused by the water, it should go away after driving it for a while. If not you'll have to figure out which coil or plug it is.

lol indeed. im here asking this for my friend. his comp doesnt work either. wonder if he hosed that down too.
this isnt my problem. i never washed my car.
hopefully he can dry it out
he thinks he might have "blown it out"
since its monday and still acting funny
hopefully i wont have to lend him one of my coils im not using.

he disconnnected the plugs and coils and dryed them out
its still messed up
from water in the bay from two days ago?
how can you REALLY damage this car washing the engine bay?
someone said maybe coincidentally the fuel filter went out???

is there a way to get the code without taking it in or buying that reader?

A blinking SES light is a misfire code...no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Plugs, wires, or coils. All Autozone will tell you is that it's a misfire code. They won't tell you which cylinder is misfiring. So you could use trial and error. Or if you have a regular mechanic or proformance shop, they usually have a scanner that will hook up to the car while you take it for a spin, and when it spits/sputters (misfires), it will tell you which cylinder is acting up.
Are you sure you didn't knock a plug wire loose while washing it?

A blinking SES light is a random misfire. You are supposed to wash your engine bay with the motor running, that way if when you are spraying the water you hear it bog down, you know not to spray there any more. You are also not supposed to use a pressure washer. It's all on Adams polishes website.
