Default Retractable License plates

Does anyone have any pictures of the "AutoLoc Retractable License Plate Kit" on an F-Body? I see Summit sells the kit online but I don't know if it would mount under the bumper or what. Any ideas would help!

Are you planning on filling your license plate box? They do mount under the bumper and flip down either via switch or when you turn the vehicle on, depending on how you wire it.

Well eventually i want to fill the grille in, but I also just don't like the look of the plate mounted in the grille area. It's required in VA to have both front and back plates. Id like to have the flip down one that way when I'm parked or if I get pulled over I can flip down but other than I'd just have it up. I'm just curious as to if it would mount right under the bumper or if anyone has even tried it before...thanks for the help though guys!

I have some for sale if you (or anyone else) wants one. I had the idea to make my own as well but had to order all the $hit in bulk...

I AM NOT PLANNING ON MAKING AND SELLING A BUNCH OF THESE... I just have some left over parts from mine.

I have enough to make ONE more electric one that flips down like this BUT IT DOES SO ON IT'S OWN WHEN YOU PUSH A BUTTON:

You retract it manually but again, it pops out when you push a button (just in case you forget to put it down and a cop pulls you over, push a button and good to go ) I'd sell it for $100.

I also have a design I made like this:

BUT mine slide WELL under the car so there is no bracket visibly sticking out from under the car (as it is with the bracket in the pic) when the plate is supposed to be hidden... I also used a ball bearing slider instead of plastic. I have 3 of those. I'd sell for $50 each.

Basically, I couldn't buy single parts I needed, I had to buy:

6 License plate bracket/holders

2 of all the electronic parts I bought

6 of the sliding brackets I bought

Etc...

I originally was going to go electric on my car but then decided I just want the ability to hide the plate at car shows so I am selling the first electric one I made to a friend and will have one more available.

I then made the slider for my car. That leaves me with 4 plate brackets I can use to make other ones. One will definetly be made into the electric so I will have three manual ones available.

I NEED to get my money back. I didn't know there were other ones out there, just spent a crap load of money so I could make one for my own car .

If I sell them all for that price I get my money back and others benefit as well. I made two (mine and his) and have the parts for the rest. I'm off this weekend so whomever wants them I can make them and have them shipped out Saturday or Monday...

BlackIce2123 gets first choice and free shipping if he/she wants one since they started the thread...

After this weekend, if they aren't spoken for, I'll make a thread in the for sale section. Again, once they are spoken for I am done with these PITA things so don't ask for me to make more

Here's what the manual one looked like (without the custom mounting bracket I made to fit our cars):

Here's how it would be folded up under the car (picture a lic. plate on it):

and here it is full extended and folded up:

The point is to be like this bracket:

but mounted further back so when it is retracted it is out of site and doesn't look like this:

I will go test it out now, I might not need the full length to achieve this and if I don't I will remove the last slider making it like this:

All this because of dumb @ss Cali laws

Ha!

Yeah, that's why that design I made electric... It's basically made so that you keep it up untill you are pulled over, hit a button and it is displayed properly

Works great but I'm WAYYYY too much of a chicken $hit to actually use it

Want a retractable one? It is totally flat with the bumper, slides forward and then UP so it is ALMOST in the factory spot...

The electric and the one manual are tentatively spoken for... Two manuals left.

We'll see, I've already looked into sponsorship when I started this and it is REALLY REASONABLE on this board. If I clear these out and find a cheaper place to buy stuff so I could actually turn a profit I might...

Your next invention should be one that raises the license plate straight up like a flag going up a flagpole 6 inches so you can see it from inside the car.

Sometimes I go a month or more without driving either Camaro, and I forget where the front end is and have to get out of the car and check when parking LOL!

Ha! That would be easy... Just use a power antenna and mount it to it
