After porting & valve job if their any performance difference in an 853 vs 241?

I keep reading there is but never see any hard data to back it up.

035 = die cast
317 = sand cast
Which is a better casting process ??

Just noticed this while I was searching for something, and the fact that nobody answered this. Die cast is the "better casting process" from the standpoint it renders a more consistent product.

head changes

There were two different cc volumes listed for the "806" casting heads;
69cc
66cc

Which of these is correct for these heads?
If it is indeed 69cc, could you mill the heads .025, and use the thinner gaskets to get aroound 10.5-1?

If you're referring to ME starting a new thread, It's because it is in THIS thread that the two different CCs are given for the 806 head. I am justing looking to get it clarified.

You should also add the C5R to this... in case somebody wants to know

0005 and 0090 are the two C5R casting numbers.

TTT, I was looking for some info for some 706 heads that I have.

Does anyone have an upgrade to this thread or atleast update all the info into the first post. THIS THREAD WILL MAKE A GOOD STICKY ALSO!

Question concerning performance diff?

I have a 2003 Chevy Suburban with the 706 casting heads on the LM7 5.3ltr and have recently come across some 2000 Corvette LS1 Heads casting 853. The owner is willing to give me the CAM, Lifters, Push Rods, and Full Head Assembly for $275.00. Number one question is, are these heads compatible with my engine without major modifications? Number two question is are they really any better than the 706 series casting other than the slightly larger intake valves?

i hate to beat a dead horse but i'm tradin my 55 chevy for a 99 z that has a 6.0 the heads cast number i believe was 714 ???? is there such a head number ?? thanks

Good info. My car has 241 heads on it though. Weird for a 2000. Maybe I read something wrong though.

Great info on this thread. Does anyone know the difference between 862 and 706 castings? The specs shown seem to be the same but there must be a difference otherwise there would be no difference in part number. Could it be the bore diameter?

You guys forgot 799 heads, which cam on the HO aluminum 5.3s (L33 and LH6)..they are basically the same as ls2 243s. They are also same as ls6 heads just without the lightweight valves.

Several 2000 model cars ended up with 241 heads...especially the ones with later build dates. I have seen a few 2000 model cars in my area that have had 241 heads stock. Just like some 01-02 fbodys got the LS6 block instead of the LS1 block.

So if I want 5.3 heads for my LS1 to send off to AI for CNC work, I'd want the 706 castings?

How much would that raise m compression over the stock 241's with a stock size gasket?

EDIT: Also, which vehicles did 799 castings come on?
