well, an iron LS1 weighs about 80lbs more than an alum one. and the most of the internals of an ls1 are designed to be lightweight so i would say 500lbs for an lt1 is probably not far off

The LS1 has 6 bolt mains and likes higher RPMs than LT1s . The also use steel sleeves in the cylinders. The LS1 is definitely superior to a LT1. Lighter weight , lower height ,and no Optispark are among a few of it's advantages.

80LB's is a pretty big chunk of weight in the front of a car, it would definetely be a noticable change.
