Does anyone else have a ridiculous amount of dash reflection on the windshield? It is awful in my car (black/black). I'm almost contemplating a carpet dash pad to help reduce the glare that it causes. Has anyone else done something about this?

Do not use any type of interior protectant on it that will "enhance" the gloss.

I NEVER use a gloss enhancer on the dash. I simply use warm water with a little bit of soap, then rinse with warm water. Maybe I just haven't gotten all of the dealer crap off the dash. I dunno. It bothers the hell out of me though. It is very disturbing when the sun is shining in from the front (like having high beams in your eyes).

yes I hated the glare so In my camaro I pulled the uper dash cover and prayed it with flat black. No glare and it still looks stock.

Wow, you sprayed the upper dash pad?? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> I don't know if I'd be willing to take it that far. I was hoping there would be some way to reduce the glare without resorting to paint.

This is gonna sound like an odd suggestion, but something I discovered that the plastic that our dashes are made out of are polarized.

I have a pair of polarized sunglasses that I wear when Im driving on sunny days, and I notice that when I have them on, the glare on the windshield is totally gone! If I leave the glasses on and turn my head to one side or the other, the glare comes back.

Don't know if this will help any of you, but polarized sunglasses can be bought at pretty much any drug store for cheap.

Now that you mention it, I've never noticed the glare when wearing my sunglasses. I'll double check on the way home this afternoon.

I use a 1/4 thick layer of dust to help cut down on glare. J/K <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> I dont have any glare, its pretty dull plastic. Are you taller or shorter than the average driver, so it puts you at a weird angle?

I guess you could say I'm taller than the average driver. I'm about 6'2" but I usually sit in a pretty upright position, rather than totally pimpin' reclined.

I may just bite the ugly bullet and buy a dash cover. Those little sticky pads will be removable right??????

On a side note, can there be any streets dirtier(sp) than Houston?? Anytime I drive more than 10 minutes I have a layer of filth on the car. It's horrible.

i also have a black on black camaro andto get rid of the glare i had the windsheild tinted 40%. It took the glare right away.

Hah! I'd love to tint the windshield, but the inspection ****'s here in Houston would probably impound the car. It's crazy how tight they are. I've thought about doing a clear tint on the windshield just to block the uv's so that the dash/seats don't get faded, but I can't find anyone that makes a clear tint capable of blocking 99% UV.

By the way, no such luck with the polarized glasses thing. Anybody know where to buy dash covers?

try www.dashhugger.com, I bought mine from them for my 2001 TA. I had them put a red firebird symbol in the center and some lettering on it. they can do almost any color and you can have any embroidery added. They really do quality work and turnaround time was less than 2 weeks.

There is a product called Dash Wax that protects plus has a dull finish. Works for me. Any auto parts store

Maybe you misunderstood... I think he was just refering to the plastic panel that stretches out for a mile past the actual dash padding. I wouldn't have a problem one with modding that as long as I checked into the proper products and methods to do a 1st rate job.
That would look better than carpet on the dash.

I use a dash protector called "Mothers: The Protector".. I put it on, wait a sec then buff it off.. leaves a VERY light sheen.. like when it was new <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> and its non-greesy.. the key is to buff it off with a clean towel.. very minimal glare.. i hate the super shiny goopy stuff

Yes the upper dash. Unscrew the a-pillers and pull the flat panel out. I used flat black no sanding just cleaned and painted no problems and it worked great looks stock without a shine.
