Default My carbed 6.0L L92 s-10 at the track

finally got to the track fri night and ran the 6.0 L92 combo,, ran great, not much track prep so i was spinning through 1st gear and still ran a 10.80 @ 128mph and i drove 220 miles round trip and only used just over 1/2 tank of 89 octane(same price as 87 octane at the pumps so i figured id splurge, lol)

this is a driver, i drive it everywhere

havent done any weight reduction yet either, 3200#, im thinking about taking some weight off and seeing what it will do. and i need a smaller carb, anyone looking for a like new 850 demon double pumper?

Neat truck! This is the kind of info that should be posted in the all carb forum that SMAX is trying to get going. You may have just saved me several hundred dollars as I was seriously considering an 850 Demon for my 6.0 engine with L92 heads and an even milder cam. Mind telling us what gear ratio and what tires were used to achieve these times?

That's fantastic! I'm not to the point of being able to run mine yet, as I have some issues to resolve concerning safety equipment, but I have driven it a couple hundred miles and it is a handfull with street tires. I'm running a level 3 Bowtie 200R4 with a 3000 Vig converter and a 4.10 Strange rear. This thing has great street manners, but my next purchase is going to be some 29-30" x 10-11" drag radials!! Mine also is intended for a lot of highway miles and I only hope it has the potential to run as good as yours.

Thats awesome! Any dyno numbers? That's great ecconomy for a Th350 and 373s and a mechanical secondary carb! Small cam for a 6.0L too that's really impressive.

Nice truck and track times. If you had a set of new slicks you would probably have a better launch.Which size carb you thinking of running?

That is sweet!! That baby hauls. I have a similar set-up (but in a car) and I weigh in at 2740. If I can run that good I'll be happy with it. Thanks for sharing the info

I;m building a sleeper version of this truck right now. by sleeper version I mean a old work truck with dent's scratches and missing odds and ends. I am using the 6.0 l92 heads and a little bigger cam. I'm putting a 4l80e in mine also pulled it with the motor. I'm glad to see some number's on a simaliar build because I was jut guess how it would preform.did you get dyno numbers yet? I was figuring close to 470 at the wheel's but I'd like to see how close I am.

yes the 850 is a bit to big, i had a 750 demon and should have kept it, but i got a good deal on the new 850 demon and i built my engine the same as the car craft L92 6.0L build and they had a 850 on there engine on the dyno

in the carcraft article on the dyno the 850 made more hp,, but that is not real world driving of the vehicle, my 750 had better throttle response, dont get me wrong, the 850 drives fine but just not as responsive and more lazy than the 750 demon i had.

i was looking around yesterday on e-bay and craigs list,, and i saw a predator carb for sale,, i think i might give that a try and just see how it runs, they always looked kind of neat and back quite a few years ago there was a couple guys in town here that had them and they were very quick cars

if the predator doesnt work out ill be going back to a 750 demon

i will be putting the 850 demon for sale sometime next week probly,, it would probly be perfect if someone had a larger cam or more cubes than what i have, and it is brand new

Years ago I heard that the predator carb's didnt have idle circuits. Not sure if that still applies to the current ones.

from the reading that i did on the predator site the standard predator will idle down to 850 and if you get the predator with the idle circuit it will idle down to 600

i got a good deal on this predator and the pics look like new, im not going to stick a lot of money into making it work, im just going to give it a try, put a rebuild kit into it if needed and if it doesnt work out ill put it on e-bay and get my money back and look for another 750 demon or holley hp

For the amount of power your truck is making its crazy that it runs better with a 750.
