Default Bare block build for 2nd gen swap

I may have access to an iron 5.3 that could use a rebuild, or I could buy a bare 6.0 block to start a build. In the opinion of the experts, which would be more cost effective for a 5-600 hp build if I'm starting with just a block?

Build will be efi and I'm undecided on if I want to boost it yet.

Depends if you boost it or not. The 5.3L would probably be best choice for boost, or the 6.0L of you stay NA or nitrous.

That was about what I had assumed. I suppose I need to weigh my options as far as what will help me reach my goals better. I'd like to make 500/500 at the wheels reliably and comfortably because I plan on driving the car a lot.
