Default Difference in ARP head studs

ARP 4316s and 4317s..

Could i use the 4317's on a 6.0 block going in an F-body. I had a set of the 4316's inmy old motor and sold them. I see the 4317's say "same length" studs. I cant remember if the longer studs on my last set were the same length or not. Explain the difference to me and why or why not I shouldnt use them on this next buildup. TIA.

there are two headbolt length specs.

the first one (97-04ish) used 3 headbolt sizes.. a small, a mid length, and a long.

the second one, (04ish to current) uses two sizes.. the same small one, and the midlength one. all of the long bolts have been replaced with the midlength ones.

a later, 2nd design block would use that "same length" kit.

the easiest way to test this looking at a block is to see where the threads start on the middle "long bolt" holes... if the threads are recessed, its ment for a longer bolt. if the threads are right near the surface of the deck, it is designed for the newer midlength (same length) design.
