Default Reading Material for Engine Design

**Mods, please move if in wrong forum**

So, I am a few years out of college and always enjoyed learning new stuff. I have a degree in double E, but have a good grasp of mechanics. I look forward to future project cars and would love to learn as much as possible about building engines. Can anyone recommend any good articles or books on anything to do with engine design? Anything from block, to heads, to cam and everything in between. I get a little jealous always hearing people talk about cam specs and what goes with what setup. I have no clue how to figure out what cams go with what. And everything else intrigues me. Please point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

The sticky above: "Books 101" will get you started. The last book is the best if you are a serious engine student.

I have the taylor books, and they are definetly advanced. If your looking for more engine design stuff, check out volume 2 first. If you just want the basics of how to pick out a cam for what engine, there are a lot of other books that i would recomend before those.

Gordon Blair's 4 stroke engine book is one of the best when it comes to a fair mix of practical explanation and sound theory. Otherwise, John Heywood's ICE book is the bible of entry level engine theory.
