98 octane+how far can it go in hp
hello-people did a search-found nothing-
after having a big discussion last night with a old freind of mine-he says 98 octane wont go as far as 700 engine hp with just under 14 comp-(my new engine in dec 07)
i run 98 now and make 540rwhp with a standard comp ls1+n20
is he right or not informed?
also is their a difference between n/a v8 and forced induction ls1,ls2 etc etc running on 98 octance-
if they are both chasing example 700bhp can 98 octance go the distance or does the forced induction vechile need more-
the shop and my engine builder say 98 will go the distance-i do trust him as he has always delievered the goods and given me the right info-
any answers woud be nice-
Take care-

That is rediculous to say that 98 octane fuel stops at a pre determined h.p. level. What if you had a 1000 cubic inch, quad turboed mountain wazoo engine pushing 12 lbs. boost? It cannot make more than 700 h.p. due to the fact that it is run on 98 octane? Rediculous. I have personally built a 1300+ h.p. blown 526 that runs on 100 octane.

If anything I would say CR or boost levels detremine the limits of any given octane, not power, power is just the end result of a certain combo of parts working simultaneously...
