Default Walmart Headlight Cleaner Suxxxx!!!

Anyone else tried the Walmart headlight restoration? I just paid $45 for something I could have and probably should have done myself with a bottle of windex and some sand paper. They advertise FULL headlight restoration, a like NEW appearence that will save you hundreds rather than buying new ones. . . they just don't FULLy tell you everything. They don't tell you they only clean the outside. They also left whatever chemical they used running down my front bumper like I hit a freggin milk carton at 50 mph.
I asked to see the work before I paid and asked them why it didn't look like new, and they told me they couldn't clean the inside and if I wanted them to look any better I would have to buy new ones. Gee thanks. I got played a FOOL at Walmart, now hopefully all who read this won't be like me.

99.9% of the time the problems are on the outside. I'm guessing they just use headlight restorer stuff and if it works, great, if not, they still charge you.

Do it yourself. It's easy.

Link.

It looks to me like they missed a step or two in the process. I'll try going to another Walmart to see if they can make it any better or give me a refund. Thanks for the link btw. I should have searched before paying. Looks like I may have to get my hands dirty after all.

Walmart is the problem. They hire very low quality workers because they work for cheap. Its a dual problem with walmart. there employees arent skilled enough, and they just dont care. It took me a long time to learn that anything you do to your car is best done by yourself. Bright side though, walmart is a billion dollar company, you can return a used toothbrush, chances of a refund are good!

I spent way less than that. All you need is sandpaper and polish. Shouldn't cost more than $20.

Yup. I read a story about a guy who bought a TV from some store, lost his receipt, so he returned it to Wal-Mart. They gave him store credit for the cost of that TV at Wal-Mart.

You could have paid a professional detailer $45 something to sand and polish your headlights.. why would take it to wal-mart of all places?

I feel the exact same way. No one does any good work and I end up doing it all myself. But the problem is how much can you take on before you can't handle anymore?

Some aluminum wheel polish and a shop towel can get out a lot of the yellowing on headlights. Super easy and takes like 5 minutes

You could buy a bottle of Meguiars Plast-X for like 10 bucks and solve the problem. Or, you can just wetsand with 2000 grit sandpaper and do the same thing.

400 grit, 800 grit, and then 1500 grit wet sand paper..then some plastic polish with a PC and you can have both of them looking brand new in 20 minutes...or you can just pay a guy that I know who does it for $15 per vehicle..I have read all the write ups and the stupid amount of time people are investing in restoring their head lite lenses......it is not that big of a deal...wet sanding and a high speed buffer with plastic polish and your home free...if it really took all the time that people are writing about I would have just bought new ones @ $125 a side.....the stuff that you buy at the auto parts store is junk and a waste of money.
