Default For those considering painting calipers/brackets

do it. its a nice little addition to your paint on the car for a very cheap price.

my dad went and bought some caliper paint this morning and we both painted our brakes today. wow what a difference.

we used this stuff called duplicolor (I think) for the calipers, which was red. And we used POR15 for the brackets to be black.

its pretty cheap, i dont think the paint was more than 20 bucks (if you already have a black paint) but it does take a while. you had to apply coats to your liking, which ended up being about 3.

Sorry i dont have any pics, ill get them up tomorrow. I think its one of the best appearance mods, and its cheap too.

I've done them on my firebird and my trans am. I didn't use any clear on my old firebird. I did on the t/a and the paint is still looking very good. Easier to clean too!

i painted mine well over a year ago and there still good. No special heat temp paint need. I also put a firehawk decal on the front ones and they look as good as they did when i painted them.

i was also thinking about painting where on the calipers where the pads dont touch and you get all that ugly lame surface rust, my dad did it on his 69 and i wanted to wait and see what would happen under heat. if its okay ill pop my wheels back off and do that and take more picture of the finished product.

nice, it worked really well. only problem was that the brush they gave you in the kit sucked ***, it would always looks little brisles and you would have to get your hand on the caliper in the paint and get the little hair out.

Quoted for truth! lol it was such a PITA.

Well worth it though (other than the brush).

Yeah I used the same kit and had that problem, ended up using a different brush, but its definitely worth the money.

did mine a few months ago, coated them nicely after cleaning real well. then cleared them and they still look great! i did this color scheme on a whim for the fourth of july but it looks good so i may keep it these colors. the clear also makes them super easy to clean, basically just wipe them off lol:

yeah it took me a good 4 hours, mainly because me and my dad were doing it at the same time, trading paint and stuff. i did my brackets with POR15 the high gloss black and its awesome with the additional black on there.
