Default TA center filler thing

OK I don't remeber what its called but the thing in between the tail lights that says Trans Am. Any way I just thought I'd share my experience with this thing. Last night I went out side to remove the bird and Trans Am because it was pink instead of red. Well, I had read where some people removed it with finnger nail polish remover and a towel, so thats what I tried. I noticed when I started tubbing that it wasn't coming off put it was getting brighter and the towel had pink on it. So I stoped rubbing as hard and just kinda polished it. Well its back to bright red again, I think it just took the top layer of paint off. So any one whos thinking about removing it to get a new decal put on, try polishing it with some finger nail polish remover.

That's the first I've heard of that! I bet several people who just want it to look 'better' will be able to do this without spending much money. You should post some before and after pics if you've got em! For removal, I actually used 1000 grit to wet sand mine off and then buffed the plastic out.

If you read my tutorial, you will find that the brighter red will only last until it gets wet. You best finish it off and fully polish it.

I had a custom one done by Blakbird24. Looks great, though I am unsure if he still doing them. It was painted in a color shifting metalic, with "Rampant" script.

Yah finish it off. Rubbing Alcohol or fingernail polish then clean it up with plastix and A LOT of elbow grease.

Well it rained for three days straight and it STILL looks bright red. I don't have any before and after pics, I didn't think about it at the time. I like both with and with out I'm just leaving it on for now until I figure out wich way I want to go. Just thought I would share for those who want to keep it.

I used fingernail polish remover, its not quit the same thing as rubbing alcohol. Unless your trying to take it all the way off, in that case you'll probabley want to use something a little stronger.

You can buy one from gm for a 93-96 formula, those are already black. Otherwise, do it yourself for free with the tutorial above.

There's a tutorial a few pages up. I wrote that a while back and has been floating around the net.
