Default ET Drags: 26x10.5x15 vs 26x11.5x15 .... Questions within

I will be buying a set of Weld Draglites all around, with skinnies up front, and some nice slicks out back. I need to make a final decision on the tire size out back. I assume the wider the tire, the better, right? What is needed to fit the 11.5's out back instead of the 10.5's? I think I would have to use 15x10 Welds, right? What is the backspacing on that rim? How much caliper grinding? How much trimming/pounding/beating is required to keep them from rubbing?

Sorry about all the questions, but I'd hate to screw this up. Oh yeah, pics would be AWESOME!

Ok, well, I got some of what I was looking for from another thread:

[quote]Originally posted by Nine Ball:
First of all, you need to be sure to get the 4.75" lugnut bolt circle size.

15x3.5 only comes in one backspace - 1.75"
15x10 you will need the 7.5" backspace

You will also need 4 ea 5/16" spacers, and long-shank lugnuts in 12mm x 1.5 size, with washers.

Front tires are 165r15 steel belted radials. I have some called "monarch metric" and they were $30 each from Discount Tire.

Rear tires will depend on if you want to run on the street, or track only, or both.

Nitto Drag Radials 275/50/15
ET Streets 26x11.5x15
ET Drags 26x10.5x15
Hoosier Slicks 26x10.5x15

Tony

Now, my question is what about the 15x11.5 et drag... How hard to fit?

I have 15x10 Prostars and they use 11.5x26x15 ET Streets, 10.5s would be too narrow.

I think I would have to use 15x10 Welds, right? What is the backspacing on that rim?

7.5 backspace

How much caliper grinding?

A ton, but I don't use rear spacers at all.

How much trimming/pounding/beating is required to keep them from rubbing?

Zero

Thanks John. Now, someone was telling me that while ET Drags and ET Streets 11.5 widths SHOULD be the same, the Drags are actually wider. Any truth to that statement?

Also, what are the pros/cons to running spacers? I see that Tony reccommends them, but you don't....

If you have stock studs, then picture this.

You put 5/16 spacers on the back, how much thread contact do you have? IMO not as much as would be ideal. In my case my car only rolls on the Pro Stars now. So I felt that I was more likely to have something happen.

IMO, buy spacers, and see for yourself.

Ok, that makes sense. I am putting my 12 bolt in when ever it shows up (ordered the first week of December. Hello, Strange? anybody home?) so throwing in long studs isn't so bad, but it would kill the sleeper look when the stock rims are on.....

What kind of power are you looking to put the the ground, and what kind of 60' times and ETs do you expect? You're looking to run a lot of tire it seems. Ideally, you want to run the least amount of tire that will still get the job done. Anything more than that, and you're just slowing yourself down. A non-DOT slick is going to HOOK. I just ordered a set of Hoosier 26x9x15's to mount on a set of Convo Pro 15x7.5" rims. This will be plenty of tire for me, and it will still provide plenty of rubber when I add more power. I ran the M/T ET Drags 26x10x15 on my T/A, and it always hooked with those tires. My 60' times were in the 1.53 range.

I was at 486 rwhp, before the TH-400 went in. With the T-brake/3800 stall/150 shot out the hole progressed to a 200 final, I'm looking for maybe 1.4-1.5 60', and low 11's, MAYBE a 10.9. Also, I intend to go heads cam in a few months, and shooting for around 600+ rwhp then.
