Not sure if it would work any better, but I install formica (the stuff on counter tops) onto walls in apartments all throughout Georgia and I use DAP contact cement. You can buy it at any hardware store and I use a paint roller to apply it with. I have only had a handful, out of hundreds, that even tried to come off the wall. Just thought it was a possibility to look into.
that's what I used on the rear seat panels,
the color I bought was called black form hobby lobby, you can look online most place will send free samples, and they make just about every color there is so surly somebody has something close to what ever color is in your car..
I did mine at the end of summer an I haven't had any problems with it coming lose, and it also can go well over 100 in GA

i would recommend doing one thing before you start adding adhesive to any plastic and that is cleaning all the solvents/ protectant's that may prevent the glue from bonding, something i would recommend using is TSP tri sodium phosphate you can get that at a local hardware store that will remove anything that may stop adhesive from bonding

I did it the same way, just pull the old one off and cut the vinyl to fit and use the spray adhesive, just like the dash and thats it...
this stuff is really easy to do, the only hard part so far was the rear seat panels because there were so many curves and turns..

the dash was the only thing I sanded, thats because the glue harden on top. it would have shown there the vinyl if not, and I just roughed it up a little, nothing else has been sanded
