Default ! side molding

ok i've decided i'm finally going to take off the side moldings off the bird this weekend. but i am worried that i will mess up and end up taking some of the paint off and haven't found a write up on how to do this. it seems simple but could anyone help?

use direct sunlight (leave it out for hours), hairdryer, or heat gun to loosen up the glue. Don't let it sit in one spot for too long. Then people have suggested to use some fishing line to get under the molding and pry it off.

I don't think the paint will come off.

Hairdryer and floss, and maybe some goo gone for any leftover residue.

will it be a tougher process if it is cold outside? i'm afraid i'll pull too hard and pull some paint up along with the molding. and what about the side emblems? same procedure?

It would be easier if it was warm. A hair dryer will make it think its 90 outside. Same process for the emblems. Might have to use a little compound and buffer to blend the area. Some do some don't. I had to on mine.

I would use the hair dryer and fishing line just to be safe, but I highly doubt any paint will come up

they will come up fine. i just caught a edge and peeled it off. you are going to leave the tape on the car then have to remove that. I would say try the eraser to get the tape off. I pulled mine off all three cars just before repaint so i lucked out as far as that goes.

I used a heat gun and a credit card, but floss or fishing line would work well also.

Your not going to take the paint off unless it was beginning to peal already.

buffing also helps if the paint underneath the molding is faded
