Question Trans-Am Side Grills

I have had them off once before.....are the tabs that keep them in place.....on the Top & Bottom....OR....the Sides.... I am going to paint them Gloss Black ...again...thanx..

Sides. I found if you use a small screw driver (to move the tabs in) & a pair of needle nose pliers to grab the honeycomb of the vent, you can keep from braking the tabs.

THANKS...I had them off 3 or so years ago...forgot, and didn't want to screw them up...COOL.

Easiest way to get them out is to just open the door one "notch" and reach your arm back there and push down on the tab then push it out of the fender. No risk at all of breaking to tab or damaging the vent with some other tool.

Except for the possibility of scratching the paint. Mine are stainless.

How is that going to scratch the paint? When the top tab unhooks the vent still in place as the bottom hook holds it in. You then close the door and simply lift/pull them out. They don't hit the ground or anything.

Didn't realize u could get at them that way..will check that out....

agreed, took mine out to get them back to stock color and was easy as cake, popped them back in real easy too

YOU GUYS MUST BE SMALL....I cannot get my hand anywhere near..will not fit through the opening..only my fingers.........well....there are 2 tabs on each side...and 2 long tabs on the top and bottom..they look like the ones that are holding it in.....WHICH ones do I deal with...top..or bottom...?????? .......... ..NEVER MIND...used a plug feeler guage and needle-nose pliers and got them finally.....Thanks for your help Guy's.....

I used a long screw driver through the crack in the door and pushed the tab down and the vent just popped out. I couldnt fit my arm in there either!!!

I tried it...worked on 2..the others were jammed..used some Liquid Wrench on them...thanx

NONONO..The top and bottom are the tabs that keep them in place.
