Default 1995 Trans Am Console Shift Boot?

Ok when I bought my 1995 trans am there was not a shift boot and I want to finish the resto to the console. What do I need to mount this? Why would someone take out the boot other than it may have ripped is there any fitment issue with the stick? Any ideas on how to fix it or if a newer style console will fit will help.

Thanks

I had the same issue with mine. I had some vynil to play with so I made my own boot. As for the insert that holds it down I made my own. Since I was hooked on fixing it for free I made one out of a wire hanger. I just carefully marked it and bent it with pliers and by hand to follow the curves. I cut slits in the boot to pass the wire through to hold it down.

The one I made is holding up great. Its not as snug to the curves as I would like but Im pretty picky and the console has some crazy bends to it. Heres a pic of it installed though. You cant se it in the pic but wherever the thread is seen I used thread that matches the car(polo green).

I have no idea where to get the right boot from. I know redline goods makes some really nice ones. Whatever you get make sure its pretty big and will have plenty of material to cover up that huge opening.
