Default C5 gauges in an f-body???

just had a wierd thought at work today. Anyone ever tryed to put a C-5 gauge cluster in an f-body? I'm not 100% on this but it would seem to me the two would share a simular connector and pinout seeing as they both recieve data from ls1 pcms. So a.) would they fit, and b.)could they be made to work?

You realize if you did that we'd have to ask 6LE to start fabbing up some vette mcnord overlays.

You would have to build a custom surround i would think. But all you would have to do is find wiring diagrams for both (theres a sticky with fbod gauges pinout info) and match everything up. Theoritically, its probably like that for any gauges. But if i were going to go to all that headache, id just get all out custom gauges like autometer. Then there are no limits you could have a 250mph speedo if you wanted, you could put them where you wanted, you could put more, less whatever. Totally custom, greendragon did his.

true that, but wouldnt exactly give off that factory feeling... ive seen some really nice setups that way. Id prefer the look that they were factory gauges myself but... hmm... deffinatly worth looking into a little more.

I dont know, there are so many different brands and each one offers different fonts styles backgrounds etc. It could probably get pretty close. Plus what is ther to match it to? 6LE could hook it up woth bezels and HVACs to tie it all in together. Very doable

I swear you are about the 35429872th person to have this same idea. If the stupid search worked then you could read up all about it. Best of my knowledge tho, no one has actually done it yet. I guess the people who get serious about it get knee deep into it and then chicken out for whatever reason. I'd like to see it done personally. I think it would be cool. We need someone to actually do it and not only talk about it.

it looks like it would be offly lose to fitting but im sure there is an odd amount of work involved. may as well get one of those mcnord overlays and call it a day.

anyone remember the chevelle with an escalade cluster? Wiring to a fault is universal, you just have to figure out what matches to what and in extreme cases you need voltage amps ohms resistance and the parts to accomodate such things. Looking at the bigger picture, a vette cluster in a f bod with a shared computer almost seems obvious. But youi could aslo say the same for the HUD and how many fbods have those?

Then it would be badass if when keyed on it said "Camaro By Chevrolet" instead
of "Corvette By Chevrolet"

You dont need special glass for a HUD. I looked into that when I had my C5 and was thinkin about adding a HUD to it. Many people add it with normal glass and it works just fine...
