Default Dimpled Tail lights???

I've got a set of tail lights off a 98 Z of mine and they're dimpled. Is there any way to get the dimple out??? Or should I scrap em'?

dimpled caused more than likely, tailight covers.
cant bring them back out

just keep using them, or buy new set.

Ya know this is funny u mentioned this. My boss has a 01 SS with the same dimpled tails your describing. The car has around 40k on it and has always been garaged kept and him and I both thought it was like that due to tail light covers. The problem is that this past weekend was the Barrett Jackson auction and we both saw a GM 02 SS pacecar for sale with strobes, etc, etc. The car only had around 5k on it and was in perfect shape. Iam also wondering if heat would be the cause of this or is it some sort of defect. I just find it hard to believe that on a car with only 5k on it that a little sunshine would cause the tail lights to dimple like that.

Its caused by tail light covers most of the time. they trap heat, generated externally or internally doesn't matter. It can also occur from heat alone without the covers but that is less common.

I'm wondering why you couldn't use a heat gun or hair dryer to carefully heat up the area, and somehow come from the rear and push it back out using a tool or something.

I have a dimpled spare taillight that I might try this on.

Other than that I think you can try and salvage them by filling in the dimple and possibly blacking them out with nite shades. If it's a small enough dimple it won't really matter if the light doesn't shine through.
