Default serious tar removal?

Hello everyone. I did a search for tar removal but it came up goose eggs, so I thought I would start a post. Anyway, there is some serious tar (hard, dried up, been on the car for a while) build up on my mom's silver RAV4. Looks like it has been on the car for a while and bug & tar remover wasn't much help. Any suggestions? TIA.

Zaino won't remove the tar. I'd try WD-40 or Stoners Tarminator to remove the tar. Then clay it to remove any remaining residue.

meguire's (sp?) cleaner wax works great - so does bug and tar remover. I know, I have a white car!!! I hate tar - it smears everywhere.

I know all too well what you're going through. You need some Castrol Super Clean. It's what I like to coin as "zombie ****." You'll need to dilute it with water before use, or you can use it straight. Then you can also use a wax my dirt track compadres turned me onto called Super Glaze. It's made by The Wax Shop, and it'll damn sure remove tar, spray paint, and anything else that doesn't belong on a finish. Plus it's a wax, so it'll protect the paint. Next time around the tar, roadkill residue and whatever else won't stick well to the paint.

Another Tarminator fan here.

If it's bad, really bad like spread out all over the car I would use mineral spirits. It's cheap so you can keep the rag SOAKED and waste as much as you want.

Remember that the tar could have sand or fine gravel in it. If you try to rub it off, you may cause serious scratches. A hot water pressure washer might work.

I know it sounds odd but gasoline works the best from my experience. Put a little on a cloth wipe the tar off with it, then immediately wash the area with soap and water.

Bug and tar remover works well, I have this stuff called Eradicator that basically eats through anything....but won't damage the clear coat, I use it for anything that gets on the car, it smells similar to gasoline...

I have also used rubbing alcohol if it is really bad. I also wash and wax the area right after removing the tar.

Thanks for help. Okay, I'm going to give bug and tar removal one more chance...only b/c I havesome in my garage. If that doesn't work I'll try tarminator or the eradicator (whichever I can find). If that doesn't work, its off to the hard hitting stuff. I'll let everyone know how it goes.
