Put HID kits on my car, broke a bulb, question!

Put HID kits on my car, broke a bulb, question! So I put some HID kits on my car, high and low beam. I ordered 6k 35w bulbs for low beams, 8k 55w for high beams (since the color washes out some).
Well I either got a broken bulb, or broke on of my 6k 35w bulbs. I put it in the car and the cam shake was bouncing it everywhere, come to find out the bottom of the bulb broke in the bulb mount.
So now my question, it's dark outside, my car is pretty illegal, so I swapped my 8k 55w on to my 35w ballasts and in to the low beams. I didn't want to drive around town with the high beams on and blind everyone..
So is that bad on the ballasts or bulbs to drive it like that untill my replacement bulb comes in?
